1. Purchase secondhand books or ebooks. One of the simplest areas for college students to save money (and perhaps make money) is on their textbooks.
Make sure to purchase secondhand books if you visit the school’s bookstore. You can simply cut the cost in half!

Before making a purchase, make sure to explore online retailers like Amazon and eBay that also sell textbooks for a discount.

You can sell back your textbooks at the end of the semester and get money, sometimes up to half of what you purchased.

Try your school’s bookshop if you would rather sell your books back in person. When textbooks are in higher demand during the first few days of the book buyback, you’ll want to make sure you sell as soon as possible. This will increase the likelihood that the bookshop will purchase your book and do so at a greater price.

Purchasing eBooks is another alternative that is becoming more and more popular. Anyone who has a portable device like a laptop or tablet will appreciate this easy choice. I have an Kindle Fire HD that is ideal for me because I can access all of my books in one location without worrying about lugging a backpack around.

Even better, I can use it to surf the internet, take notes, and do just about anything else! I purchased an awesome bluetooth keyboard that is easy to set up and operate.

In addition, every eBook I’ve bought has been less expensive than the actual physical books themselves!
P.S. After my first semester, my Kindle paid for itself! What awesomeness!

TAKE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION 2. Depending on your school, parking permits might cost anywhere from $50 to $200. Imagine the amount of money you could save as a college student over the course of four years if you avoided driving your automobile at school. It might not seem like a large sum.

Most institutions have agreements with public transportation providers, so you can go by bus or train for a discounted rate or for free.

For shopping trips or a night out, consider using the bus. You might also join a carpool where you can split the expense of transportation with other people. When you and your buddies have similar travel plans, this is a fun choice. Has anyone mentioned car karaoke?

3. INDEPENDENT Everyone can do this, and it gives you the flexibility to work the hours you desire.

If you have a talent for writing, you can create a blog, contribute to content mills like HubPages, search for writing jobs on freelance job networks, and more! Who knows, you might eventually use it to launch your own company!

Not an author? Not to worry! You could open an Etsy store and sell handmade goods, digital goods, photos, and other things there.

If you have a talent for design or coding, you may work as a freelance web or graphic designer, helping blogs and businesses to customize their websites.

Tutoring is another excellent option to generate money as a college student if you’d prefer to work for yourself and assist others.

One website that employs independent instructors to help students in a variety of subject areas is Tutor.com. Although you will have to go through an application and interview procedure, if you are hired, you will be allowed to choose your own hours.

Whatever your talents may be, be sure you don’t waste them!

Since there are so many various platforms to market your work on, I believe that freelance possibilities are one of the most underutilized options for college students to make money.

At the very least, Google any potential freelance interests you may have. You can’t learn until you try, right?

4. Do Part-Time Work Getting a job is one of the most straightforward methods for college students to earn money and save.

I’m aware that many students struggle with this because they don’t want to interfere with their study time (which is entirely understandable), but the reality is that working while you’re in school may have a lot of positive effects.

When you graduate from college, for instance, you’ll have an advantage thanks to your significant employment experience.
Why?
Considering that many firms prefer to hire individuals with certain skills and work experience.

Use the career services offered by your school if you’re unsure where to look for a job. This division serves to assist college students like you in locating internships, jobs, and details about employment in your field of study.

Take a look at the list to see if there are any chances that interest you. They frequently have a list of companies that regularly hire students from the school.

5. CHANGE YOUR LIVING CONDITION Even though sharing a room with someone else might not be your favorite thing in the world, you can easily save hundreds of dollars on housing costs.

Having a roommate may be enjoyable and a terrific learning experience if you find the proper person to live with. Because more people will be splitting the cost, you can also save money on utility costs in addition to rent.

Keep in mind that being a college student implies being open to new experiences and social circles. Sure, sharing a space with another person can present obstacles at times, but consider all the things you’ll learn from doing so (Im sensing an important life lesson here).

Downsizing or moving to a less expensive location may also be part of adjusting your living environment.
Since most institutions have arrangements with nearby apartment complexes, you could be able to save a ton on both rent and utility bills!
7. Organize a game night Another fantastic way for college students to save money is to host game nights.
Play some music, then ask everyone to bring their board games, video games, and a bag of chips.

You’ll discover that having fun doesn’t have to be expensive. You can easily save $10 to $20 by doing this (maybe more if you are the popcorn, candy, and soft drink type).

7. SAVE MONEY BY USING STUDENT DISCOUNTS Every day, there are more businesses that give students discounts. You can actually find a bargain on almost anything, from movie theaters to clothes retailers.

Amazon offers its Prime program for FREE to qualified students, making it an even better deal for college students. To sign up, all you need is a school email! Just by signing up for this service, I was able to save a ton of money on shipping.
