And that’s a cycle that must continue in order to keep the cardboard industry, as well as practically all other economic sectors, thriving.

The need for boxes is not limited to the holiday rush. During the early stages of the pandemic, demand for online shopping and home delivery exploded, growing by 33% in 2020 over 2019* (equating to 74 boxes per person), and all those deliveries required packing and boxes produced from fiber, its main component. The supply, which is fueled to a large extent by recycled domestic paper fiber, declined to little under 6 million tonnes nationwide as demand and usage rose.

Paper recycling is one of our main business operations here at Restore Datashred , thus it never sleeps. It turns out that this is not only a critical activity for our and our customers’ environmental and social responsibilities, but it also proves to be a pivotal factor in whether many firms can transport and deliver their goods across the country at a cost that is both reasonable and profitable.

How can we all contribute?

Continue recycling. Whether it’s for domestic paper or box debris, make sure you keep recycling paper since your local council collections are essential. Don’t keep boxes of cardboard around the house unless you need to utilize them; the rest of the world needs them more!

Of course, businesses also make a significant contribution to paper fiber by recycling cardboard boxes and properly disposing of sensitive paper documentation. Using paper shredding services, like those we offer here at Restore Datashred, is what we mean by using the “proper channels.” You’re not only ensuring a consistent flow of paper fiber that we send to be pulped and used in businesses all around the UK to make cards and other paper products. Additionally, you are abiding by laws and ensuring the protection and safety of the confidential information belonging to your company from the time you deposit it in one of our secure disposal bins until it lands on the cutting edges of our cutting-edge shredding machines.

We always strive to have zero percent of our clients’ paper waste end up in landfills. To that end, all of our employees are security-checked experts, and all of our procedures have accreditations that go above and above industry requirements.

As we enter the year 2022 in full, would you like to contribute in some way to keep the industry moving? Contact us or give a member of our friendly team a call at (800) 376-4422, and keep recycling!
