FREE PRINTABLE COLLEGE PACKING LIST IS INCLUDED! After high school, it seems like time is passing by at an accelerated rate. You need to spend as much time as you can with your friends, attend family celebrations of your accomplishments, and do a lot of shopping to get ready for your new temporary residence.

I’d venture to say that the majority of students don’t even make a college packing list. To be quite honest, I didn’t have a set list when I first started either, but I soon realized that I should definitely make one because there was always something I needed that I didn’t have (*cough* hangers, USB Drive

, and that’s all I’m going to admit to for the moment.)

Fortunately, I was able to get what I needed, preventing any disasters (I wish I could say the same for the girls who lived on the other wing of my floor)!

Because of this, I decided to make a list of free college basics for you to print out and carry with you while you shop (or save to your computer and refer to while you shop online). You’ll notice that I didn’t list EVERY possible thing, and that’s because not everyone will require those arbitrary goods. For instance, every woman out there might bring a hair dryer for college, when men would only need a comb.

I’m attempting to make the point that each person’s college essentials will vary. Make your list specific to your requirements!
THE ESSENTIAL COLLEGE PACKING LIST You will obviously need the following things:

Bedding Blankets Towels Toiletries a laundry basket or a hamper shower boots (a MUST if you are using a shared bathroom) Extension Cord/Surge Protector

Make sure to ask the residential life administration at your school what bed sizes are available in your dorm or residence hall. I know some colleges also have full-size beds if you live in a suite or on-campus residence, but I’ve heard of several colleges with XL twin beds. You wouldn’t want to purchase bedding just to discover that the size was incorrect!

CO-USE OF A BATHROOM? YOU GET THIS! I’m serious about the shower shoes, you guys. If you share a toilet, they are among the most important items for college! Buy some inexpensive flip flops that you can wear in the shower and bathrooms because you never know what is entering or exiting those restrooms at any given time. Later, you’ll thank me.

Additionally, be sure to purchase an shower caddy

. I totally didn’t have one on the first day of school, and transporting all my restroom supplies back and forth was not very enjoyable. Let’s just say that after my final lesson, I went to Target and bought one.

Consider adding a durable, quick-drying shower caddy to your list of items to bring to college. You wouldn’t want mold or mildew to grow on all of your belongings!
